Founded on December 4, 1915, Epsilon is the oldest chapter in the Northeastern Province. The Epsilon Chapter is the first chapter founded on the east coast thus giving it the nickname "The Star of the East". Delta was the first chapter established at an historically black university. The Delta Chapter was the last Chapter chartered under the fraternity's original name, Kappa Alpha Nu, and the first chapter designated after the fraternity's name change to Kappa Alpha Psi. Just months after its founding, the fraternity became the first African-American group of its kind to become nationally incorporated in May of that year.
